Race Results

I began focused training in running and cycling 2013, ahead of the 2014 race season.  Since then, I've made a lot of progress, setting new PBs and breaking through mental blocks that previously held me back.  I've had more than a little fun doing so, leading my past coach Roger to coin me the "Smiling Assassin."  I'm now training with two different groups, Megan Brown (MB) Performance run club, as well as X3 Training for cycling.

A highlight of the journey so far happened in summer 2016, when I raced in the World Age Group Duathlon Championships in Aviles, Spain.  It was a thrill to represent the maple leaf and I did it again on home soil at the championships in Penticton, BC, in 2017.  This year, I'm focusing on enjoying the multisport world here in Ontario and racing local.

Here are my PBs over key distances:

  • 5 km: 18:12 (Achilles St. Patrick's Day Run 2016)
  • 10 km: 37:43 (Toronto Yonge Street 10 km)
  • Half marathon: 1:24:02 (Toronto Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon 2015)
  • Sprint distance duathlon: 1:04:38 (Toronto Island 2014)
  • Standard distance duathlon: 2:04:02 (Worlds 2017)
Even as I age, I think that I've got more speed in these legs and I plan to knock down some of these PBs.  I just need to avoid the pesky injuries that break the consistency of my training and the ability to build more strength.

These are my other fave moments from duathlon and endurance sports:

  • Toronto Island (2007): first race, which left me limping for nearly a month - and hooked!
  • Toronto Island (2013): first time getting an age group medal, 3rd in my age group
  • Binbrook (2014): first time winning my age group, first time on the podium and first time in the overall top 3 (I placed 3rd)
  • Toronto Yonge St 10K (2014): volunteer social media champion
  • GoodLife Toronto Half Marathon (2015): volunteer pace bunny
  • Guelph Lake (2015): first overall duathlon win
  • Rochester Flower City Duathlon (2016): second overall duathlon win
